Emma Crisp

ARTIST STATEMENT

Emma is a mixed media artist whose passion for creating began in childhood, nurtured by a home rich in creativity. Raised by an artist mother, she developed a deep appreciation for color, pattern, and texture, which now define her work.

Fascinated by the Art Nouveau and Impressionist movements, Emma draws inspiration from iconic artists such as Klimt, Mucha, and Schiele. Her current creations are a vibrant interplay of discarded materials, primarily transformed recycled calendars, combined with acrylic paints, gold enamel, and liquid markers. She takes great care in crafting each piece, focusing on composition, space, and perspective, and enjoys experimenting with the layering of different materials.

Emma’s artistic journey has evolved from working on furniture and creating mosaic frames to primarily producing works on primed panels and canvas. Her collages showcase a unique juxtaposition of vibrant patterns and clean edges, bringing her vision to life while inviting viewers to explore the intricate relationships within her compositions.

With each artwork, Emma aims to inspire others to appreciate the beauty of mixed media and the stories that can emerge from the amalgamation of various materials and influences.
